Kona Pacific Public Charter School invites the community to share in a potluck dinner at 5:30 and open house from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at its campus above Kona Community Hospital.

The classrooms will be open, with teachers on hand to answer questions, display samples of student work and share the learning blocks that will be taught this school year.

With a current enrollment of 220 students in kindergarten through eighth grade, Kona Pacific still has a few open spaces for students in the second, fifth and eighth grades.

Kona Pacific offers a Waldorf educational program rooted in the land and culture of Hawaii. Organic farming and gardening, native plant restoration and traditional Hawaiian building techniques are some of the learning programs included in the school’s curriculum.

The school also operates the WHOLE Food Service Program, providing more than 200 at-risk and disadvantaged students, children and elderly with healthy meals.

Bring plates, cups and utensils to the potluck to limit waste.
